How to Organize Your Marketing Strategies

How to Organize Your Marketing Strategies
How many marketing strategies do you have going on at the same time? Take a moment to think about it. Maybe you run a blog, direct mail campaign or have a weekly E-zine. Also, you may run pay per click ads, social media ads, and maybe content marketing strategies all running at the same time.

Multiple strategies can be a lot to oversee even under ideal situations. If you do not have a simple system to keep it all organized, some marketing strategies can turn out to be less effective than they could have been. Poor results due to lack of structure can provide inaccurate feedback and can led to missed opportunities to combine ideas that will maximize your return on investment.

Step 1: Look For a System
Not all systems are created equal. The best system is the system that allows you to use with ease and to be consistent. Take the opportunity to evaluate all of your options and organize them into different categories such as, online, offline, social media, etc. Then look at the different project management applications that can be used and/or synced with your smart phone, tablet or computer.

Step 2: Condense and Separate
Regardless of the method you decide to use to keep you on track, you need to have the ability to divide and organize the information. Consider having a central location where all of your marketing ideas and action strategies are stored in like a folder on your computer or note pad area on your smart phone. You can create a folder for each category (ex: social media ideas, social media action plan, etc.) If you are “old school” and love pen and paper, use a three or five subject notebook to keep things in order.

Step 3: Design a Master Plan
Juggling multiple marketing calendars can be a surefire way to sabotage your efforts. You should consolidate all of you of marketing tasks into one calendar so that you can effectively organize your plans. Some management tools allow you to segment your calendar tasks into categories but allow you to have an overview of everything in one central location. This will be the best place to create a weekly action plan that will outline your entire tasks so it’s easier to manage and delegate them to your team.

Once you find a management system that works best for you, be consistent in using it for your business. Consolidating and dividing your strategies into various categories will help you evaluate your results. Creating a master marketing plan will help you maximize your return on investment by giving each strategy the attention they deserve. Organizing your marketing strategies can be the difference between an ineffective and effective plan.
