Amazon App Store for Droid Phones

Amazon App Store for Droid Phones
The Amazon App store provides free apps daily. It's easy to get those apps for your Kindle, but how do you get them on your Droid phone? Here are the steps.

By default many Droid phones won't let you install "external" apps. So your first step is to turn that option on.

On the main Settings tab of your phone, go into Applications. There should be a checkbox for "all installation of non-Market applications". Make sure that is CHECKED. That now gives you the ability to install the Amazon App Store application.

Next, you have to install the app. You do this by going to the Amazon site:

https://www.amazon.com/amazonappstoreapp

On that screen should be a large button that says

DOWNLOAD THE AMAZON APPSTORE

Yup, you guessed it, now you click that button.

The download took about a minute when I did it on my Verizon Samsung droid phone.

Next you install the app. That is also a fairly quick process.

Once the app is installed, you connect it with your Amazon account. That's how the store knows what apps you've bought and have access to. So you need to have an Amazon account, which is free to set up.

Once you have that set, you have access to their daily free apps! You'll find that the apps on this store are often different than apps you find on other stores, so it's good to have accounts with the various app stores out there to see what games you can play on them.

In their Settings menu, you can then see all the apps you've bought up until that point, living in your "cloud". So for example in my case I'd bought a bunch of apps for my Kindle Fire. I could see them right there! So for example, one of them was "Quell", a puzzle game. I could click on the Download button next to Quell and voila, it begins downloading that app. So that means at home I can play Quell on my larger Kindle Fire screen, and enjoy the larger view. When I'm out at the dentist's office I can just have my cellphone with me and play on the smaller device.

Well recommended to install and play with. After all, it's free!
