Pray For The Government

Pray For The Government
The apostle Paul, in the book of Romans (chapter 13 verses 1 and 2) tells us that everyone must respect and be submissive to the governing authorities because God establishes all authority. He further makes his point by saying that all the people who are in authority have been put there by God and anyone who rebels against this authority is rebelling against what God has instituted.

In view of happenings in our government, in recent years and in the past, these words of wisdom may be hard to swallow.

Is your candidate in office? He can't govern alone. He needs God's help.

Is the current president not your choice? This is all the more reason to pray for him. Pray that he will seek God's guidance and that God will direct his decisions.

Pray through the scriptures for our president, his cabinet and for our country. The following are suggestions you may want to use.
  • Thank our loving God for giving us our government. Pray for and make intercession for all our government officials and for all those who are in authority. 1 Timothy 2:1,2
  • Pray that there will be no secrets and whatever is hidden in the darkness will be exposed in the light. 1 Corinthians 4:5
  • Pray that our president will accept wise council and that in turn God will pour out His heart to him. Proverbs 1: 23
  • Pray that our government officials will have people around them who will provide Godly encouragement so that their hearts will not be hardened to the truth. Hebrews 3:13
  • Pray that wisdom will enter their hearts and that the knowledge will be pleasant to their soul. Proverbs 2:10
  • Pray that in their decisions, they will have the ability to detect right from wrong and that this knowledge will protect them. Proverbs 2:11
  • Pray that our government officials will pursue wisdom and understanding, that they will know God's words and will not turn from them. Proverbs 4:5
  • Pray that they will walk in the way of good men and will keep to the paths of the righteous. Pray that upright and blameless men will live in our land and that the wicked will be cut off from it. Proverbs 2: 20,21
  • Pray that they will devote their heart and their souls to seeking the Lord. 1 Chronicles 22:19

"God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea." Psalm 46:1,2
